About the event
Leaders in all walks of life are challenged everyday to be the best leaders they can be. Our organizational world is complex, dynamic, unforgiving at times. Theoretical and "traditional" learning is great for certain things—excel spreadsheets, policies and processes, tools & technology—among others. As a proven leader, you have spent a fair amount of time mastering these concepts. But traditional learning does not tackle some of the important challenges around getting firmly grounded in our own authentic and conscious leadership. Horses do exactly this. In short, horse partnered learning is an expansive, proven, and highly effective path to better leadership. At the end of this unique and deeply hands-on day, you, in the company of like-minded colleagues (and horses!), will have redefined your approach to leading others in powerful, demonstrable, and actionable ways. Why Horses? Among the most perceptive of all animals, horses’ rapid responses to herd, human and environmental signals give a whole new definition to “real-time feedback.” As we step into close relationship with these highly attuned beings, we’re compelled to slow down, to be present, and to closely observe ourselves and our effect on others. As we challenge our established patterns and push through our comfort zones, the horses reflect back to us how we’re showing up and often communicate this in eye-opening ways! Each participant’s experience is unique, yet they all have one thing in common: every person has learned deeply because of the horses. No horse or riding experience is necessary – the activities will be ground-based. We do ask that you show up with your courage, presence, and willingness to listen, reflect, and grow your leadership in new and different ways. Together, we will explore topics including:
- Creating trust-based environments and cultures
- Leading with courage and compassion
- Showing up authentically with awareness of self and others
- Communicating in highly effective and positively impactful ways
- Problem-solving through collaboration, inclusivity, and shared empowerment
- Embracing the ambiguity and celebrating the learning
